Bells are ringing: Avaya + Skype IS the perfect marriage

In hopes of serving various SMBs, Skype has now partnered with Avaya to deliver innovative, real-time communications and collaboration solutions.  The unification of these two powerhouses will enable businesses to lower costs and expand how employees, customer, partners, and suppliers exchange information with greater ease and effectiveness.

The first phase of this partnership will allow Avaya customers to access Skype Connect, providing SIP communications, between the two.  Furthermore, Skype users can make inbound calls to Avaya customers in the U.S. for free or at a low cost.  In the third quarter of 2011, Avaya and Skype plan to deliver integrated unified communications and collaboration solutions for enterprises within the U.S allowing both user communities to interact via presence, instant messaging, voice and video.

“Avaya and Skype have been working along parallel paths to offer, innovative, scalable, low cost, SIP-based communications to our respective markets,” said Alan Baratz, senior vice president, Avaya and president, Avaya Global Communications Solutions. “Now, the two companies will work together, striving to improve collaboration and customer service by federating Avaya and Skype solutions for a common user experience that delivers unique benefits for businesses and their customers who are Skype users.”

From Skype filing their IPO, remarkable Avaya alliance, and new CEO, they will kick-off the New Year with a BANG!
