Avaya Gives Clients The Power to Develop in The Public Cloud

Avaya took another shot in the war of the cloud this month, unveiling its new strategy for collaboration and cloud-based unified communications.

Avaya Collaborative Cloud enables customers, channel partners, service providers and developers to use, build, deliver and enhance cloud collaboration solutions based on Avaya applications, platforms and infrastructure. The framework allows a wide range of flexible, cloud-based deployment and utilization options to accommodate diverse market segments and needs.

“The Collaborative Cloud formalizes Avaya’s cloud strategy,” said Brett Shockley, senior vice president and general manager for Avaya’s applications and emerging technologies. “It expands our current portfolio of cloud-based solutions to encompass new offers from the public cloud. Over the year, we will continue building new cloud-based solutions in a variety of highly flexible delivery models, enabling our customers and partners to access, utilize and extend the value of Avaya’s applications, platforms and infrastructure.”

As part of the Collaborative Cloud, the new AvayaLive suite of solutions focuses on public cloud-based communications and collaboration services.

The AvayaLive suite includes:

  • AvayaLive Connect, a fully integrated unified communications solution for small businesses that includes voice, voice conferencing, messaging, video, mobility, presence and more. The solution supports PC, Apple Mac, iOS and Android devices; multiple offices and remote and mobile employees. The entire solution can be easily ordered, downloaded and accessed through the web. AvayaLive Connect is currently in trials and is planned for general availability in the U.S. market by mid-2012.
  • AvayaLive Engage, formerly known as web.alive, is a Web-based, immersive collaboration environment. The solution enables participants to use personalized avatars in a 3D environment to engage in collaboration activities such as meetings and creative sessions, sales and customer service, HR training and recruiting. The new features of AvayaLive Engage include support for Apple Mac OSX operating systems and Safari browsers; video collaboration and conferencing; video streaming, sharing, and synchronized playback; and, enhanced collaboration tools.

AvayaLive Connect and AvayaLive Engage are the first of a growing list of public cloud services that will be offered on AvayaLive.com. Additional components of the Avaya Collaborative Cloud framework, including new solutions, offers and partners, will continue to roll out throughout the year.

“AvayaLive Connect was the best fit to support our many needs: for a mobile workforce who needs to be connected by cell phones, for a new store where we need to appear as if we are physically there, and for conferencing with volunteers and board members,” said Brenda Gould, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell in Massachusetts. “AvayaLive Connect allows us to do all those things and more. The installation was simple and easy – almost instantaneous. It allows us to be more productive and gives us a very simple solution for what used to be a very complicated problem.”
